Erica Eng is a fifth-generation Chinese American director based in Los Angeles. She wrote and directed Americanized, inspired by her experience growing up in Oakland and playing high school basketball. The film received a Vimeo Staff Pick and won 26 awards, including Bentonville, Palm Springs ShortFest, and Cinequest, where it became Oscar-qualified.
She went on to direct Off Fairfax, a proof of concept for a pop culture conspiracy comedy now in development at Amazon MGM Studios. It premiered at Tribeca and earned an Honorable Mention at Slamdance. Her latest short, “The Ghost” (produced through Disney’s Launchpad with Marvel and Lucasfilm executives) is streaming on Disney+.
Erica won the Academy Gold Fellowship for Women and is developing her debut narrative feature. A fellow of the Disney Directing Program, she recently directed an episode of General Hospital. Erica's work explores family, identity, and personal growth, rooted in her Oakland upbringing.
